No Computer?!

I stopped Using a cycling computer a few years back, And in the cycling community hyper focused on marginal gains, you’d think I was an anarchist. But I’ve been riding so long, and I’ve tracked my miles, heart rate, power, cadence and on and on, but these days I just do it for the joy of the it. what i realized, like in business, there are so many things that are not only hard to measure, but focusing on the act of doing can be a strong path, especially when it comes to people.

I know it’s important to measure, to define KPI’s, and in the age of AI, finding efficiencies or solving problems, but often I find focusing on the team without measuring, is where we find the gold. We unlock a new idea, build upon the start of an idea, and spend the time solving and just working together with great effectiveness.

So in an age of constant measuring, and whatever the soup de Jour of the business world is telling us is important, maybe go for a ride without a computer for the fun of it, and just do the work.
