One Decision Away…

We’re always one decision away from a totally different life. I recently made a decision, and the stone pillars pictured will no longer be the ‘welcome home’ or ‘See you when you get back’ in my day to day. Poetic I know. I liked the drama of it all.

Stone pillars can represent stability, resilience, or memories, and as i drove through these the last few times, I felt Nostalgic as one does, thinking about the memories and all the life that was lived beyond them. Coincidentally, the entrance is on a prominent cycling loop in my home of Golden colorado, and I will miss the joy it brought me seeing fellow cyclists finishing this epic climb, and cheering “You Got This!” when I see them taking my trash in and out on thursdays. it is easy to focus on what we’re losing, or leaving behind, and I try to actively shift my thoughts to how exciting things will be moving forward, and maybe just a little bit of what I won’t miss. But not too much, because the grass ain’t always greener as we know.

That said, earlier this year I was thinking about making the decision to move, then punted on the idea as it didn’t feel right at the time. a month or so After putting those thoughts behind me, i was of course riding my bicycle and felt my phone vibrate, so i stopped to check. I Took a drink of water, Looked right and Saw a sign I hadn’t before. Googled it. Toured it. then made a decision. While on the surface moving within the distance of a middle-Aged man’s cycling loop isn’t as exotic as Thailand, and seemingly won’t be a totally different life as you may see it, but remember… trees grow both ways at the same time. Not every decision needs to be for the leaves to lead to a totally different life.
