Water Your Grass At Night.
I realize the Hypocrisy of this post, especially if you read my first blog post; however I’ve been practicing the art of not telling people what I’m doing until it is done, and in some cases I never share. I have found two benefits to this. first, I like seeing the look on peoples face when they see the proverbial shiny green grass and probably wondering when I’ve been watering. Second, most importantly, the dopamine hit ‘showin’ up with the Glow up” as they say, is far more rewarding than telling everyone what one is planning.
Chase Hughes has a great talk on discipline and how it is the foundation of confidence. Further defining as “The ability to prioritize the needs of future self, ahead of present self.” Even As a self-Validated disciplined human, I often fell into the trap of chasing small dopamine hits by sharing what I was doing as a motivator to hold myself accountable. Looking back on those ‘shares’ i realized a fair amount of those fell off the priority list and were never fulfilled. So I felt it was Time to change my approach.
I made a decision to challenge myself to learn something new, for my needs and my growth, and continue to take this approach. This is where you’ll have to wait for the ‘Glow Up.’
